First Emirates Nursing Association National Chief Nursing Officers and Nursing Academic Leads Forum

Under the theme “one voice ...one future”

The Emirates Nursing Association-ENA hosted the First National Chief Nursing Officers–CNOs and Nursing Academic Leads–NALs Forum under the theme “one voice...one future” in collaboration with the National Association (NNA) at Ministry of Health and Prevention–MOHAP, Director–Department of Nursing at Emirates Health Services EHS-Dubai. The event was supported by Arjo Middle East FZ–LLC. It was held on 7th of September, 2023 at the Grand Hayat Hotel, Dubai.

The forum aimed to provide a platform for executive nursing leaders to discuss national, regional and international nursing strategic directions and address the ongoing challenges to meet the standards of nursing excellence in the country. The forum was attended by 58 chief nursing officers and nursing academic Leads across the UAE. The opening speech was delivered by Dr. Safa Almustafa Vice president–ENA, Nursing Executive, Corporate Nursing and Allied Health Abu Dhabi Health Services Company–SEHA. Followed by a paper presentation on Regional and International Nursing Updates and Directions by Dr. Fatima Al Rifai, Board Member at ENA, Board of Directors Member–International Council of Nurses–ICN. Also, Arjo Middle East representatives Mohamed Alqudah, Asst. General Manager Marketing and Sales and Aleyamma Samuel Clinical Director Arjo South Asia and Middle East FZ–LLC have presented with an introduction on the company development and strategic directions and the Excellence in Nursing Care in Facing Mobility Challenges.

Besides, the forum addressed papers of presentations and interactive discussions that covered vital national strategic directions. The five themes were compressed in to the following: First paper, addressed the current National Strategy for Nursing and Midwifery in UAE (2022–2026) presented by Dr.Sumaya Mohamed Alblooshi–ENA President, head of NNA, Director at Department of Nursing–EHS Dubai.

Second paper, was on Sustainability as Concept in Nursing and Midwifery Practice and Processes delivered by HE.Habiba Al Mar’así Co–Founder and Chairperson–Emirates Environmental Group (EEG),Dubai. Third paper, covered Emiratization which was delivered by Laila Sultan Albahri–ENA board member, Director of Nursing in Umm Alquwain Hospital–Umm Al Quwai, EHS.


Fourth paper, was about Specialization in Nursing and was presented by Naeema Mohammed Rajab–ENA board member, ENA societies team lead, Acting Assistant Director of Nursing–Rashid Hospital, Dubai Academic Health Cooperation. Fifth paper, highlighted the Youth Empowerment and Engagement which was presented by Huda Alshehhi–ENA member, Nurse Manager at Ras Alkhaimah (RAK) Primary Health care (PHC)–EHS.


The forum also explored the group discussion from various nursing leaders from management, clinical to academics who shared insightful sharing’s which have enriched the event and represented an endorsement of the forum theme " One Voice .. One Future"، enriched pressing nursing career path regulations, challenges, suggestions and the future recommendations from a proactive plan toward the Nursing profession and academia demands development in the UAE to create an accommodative resilient culture to advance healthcare sectors in UAE.

During the ceremony, ENA and Arjo Middle East FZ–LLC have signed a pre-memorandum of understanding for further future ways of collaboration between the two corporations for advancing and empowering the nursing profession in the UAE.

Looking forward to conducting a future nursing leader’s forum will be hosted in the coming years.
