Community Care Nursing Professional Practice Group (CC-NPPG)
History of the Community Care NPPG
Community professional practice group was establish in 2006 as part of Federal Department of Nursing Practice Development Section (MOH) from different nurses working in community base practice such as: school health, primary health care centers, preventive medicine and maternity and child care facilities all over UAE.
The group with 14 members from various facilities was reactivated in 2010 as instructed and guided by the Senior Coordinator of Practice Development Section at the Federal Department of Nursing (FDON) with a local chair person to encourage emeriti nurses hold extra responsibilities in nursing career.
Vision
Promote and improve the health and well being of communities in order to reduce morbidity and mortality rates in the UAE.
Strengthening partnership and networking between the community health care providers and other sectors within the government and nongovernmental organizations to facilitate community actions for health and well-being.
Mission
“To ensure effective and efficient accessibility to healthcare services in the community in the UAE”.
Values and Beliefs
The following values and beliefs are based on the UAE Ministry of Health Professional Code of Conduct (2001) and interpreted from the community health nursing perspective. The Community Care Nursing Professional Practice Group values and believes in:
- Competence: providing the best healthcare possible in a scientific, caring and committed way to all concerned.
- Respect: honoring values, rights, culture, religions and the needs of others and self in a dignified way.
- Integrity: thoughts and behaviors that are integrated, whole and coherent displaying dignity, loyalty, honesty and fairness.

Objectives
To:
- Promote the highest standards of practice throughout UAE
- Provide a forum for CCNPPG to communicate more effectively, discuss common concerns and to share knowledge and expertise on national basis
- Promote research on community health issues
- Promote professional and public awareness of community nursing practices
- Encourage members to participate in affairs promoting public and community wellbeing
Activities

Conduct conferences and seminars about community issues in order to make healthcare providers aware about activities of community nurses.

Participate in any awareness campaigns/ programs held either by school or health education groups in order to increase public awareness.

About 200 people attended the conference and multi community topics were discussed.
Future Plans
- To establish the scope and standards of community health nursing in the UAE.
- To conduct seminars, community courses and workshop as available.
