Elizabeth Rideout


Dr. Elizabeth Rideout completed a Bachelor of Nursing at the University of New Brunswick, a Master of Health Sciences from McMaster University as well as both Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from the University of Toronto. She served as Chair of the post-diploma BScN program, Chair of the MSc and PhD programs and was the founding director of the Nursing Education Research Program during her academic career at McMaster University. Her focus of scholarship and practice is nursing education and she is the author of numerous articles as well as the book “Transforming Nursing Education through Problem-based Learning” (PBL). Dr. Rideout has presented workshops on PBL nationally and internationally. She has also been fortunate to have international experience as founding Director of the BScN program at the University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, as Visiting Professor at Dokuz Eylul University, Izmir, Turkey and currently as consultant on nursing education at universities in South Africa and Botswana.
