Introduction

The  SECN Society established to align with mandates of the UAE National Strategy for Nursing and Midwifery (2022 - 2026) and to respond to international initiatives by the ICN. 

The national platform gathers all nursing students and early career nurses to discuss their objectives and provide suggestions for advancing the nursing and midwifery professions in the UAE. 

Moreover, the society empowers them to play an active role in national service and in shaping the future of health, nursing, and midwifery education and practices, thereby supporting the UAE’s vision and national priorities.

Empowered, engaged and futuristic nursing and midwifery youth for happier and healthier UAE community.

Mission

To establish a national platform that empower youth nurses and midwives, nurture their character, develop the environment that surrounds and shapes them, and maximize their meangiful engagement in community service, decision-making and influence in health, nursing and midwifery policy dialogue.

Objectives

  • Develop an enabling environment for the professional and personal growth and development of nursing and midwifery students and early career group. 

  • Maximise the meaningful engagement of nursing and midwifery students and early career group in reshaping the future of UAE nursing and midwifery profession and informing its advancement and global competativeness.

  • Enhance the nursing and midwifery students and early career group influence in health, nursing and midwifery policy dialogue.

  • Connect nursing and midwifery students and early career group across the UAE. 

  • Contribute to  advancing the quality nursing and midwifery education as well as transition to practice. 

  • Develop the creative and innovative potential of nursing and midwifery students and early career group and enable the expression of their unique talents.

Scope of Practice

  • Support Nursing student and early career peer Group 

  • Conduction of community campaigns and professional development programs that serve meeting the society vision, mission and objectives. 

  • Support and empower nursing student and early career  group by providing access to education, resources, mentorship, and opportunities for personal and professional growth.

  •  Representation of nursing and midwifery student and early career group at national, regional and international platforms and gatherings.

Joining Criteria

  • Enrollment in a nursing or midwifery undergraduate  or  graduate degree.

OR

  • A nurse or midwife who is within five years of graduation from a nursing or midwifery undergraduate degree.

  • Active ENA membership.

  • Motivated to actively involve in meeting the society vision and sharing the voice of peer group.
